    Former Beat Rodeo mainstay Steve Almaas and photographer/singer Ali Smith (Speedball Baby) take their combined musical histories--involving gradations of country, punk, and noisy blues--and come up with a gentler hybrid that values harmonies, dramatic narratives, and lush acoustic arrangements. This is Lower East Side Americana done in a reverent but knowing spirit. In addition to Almaas's originals, the duo harmonize sweetly on both a Byrds and a Beach boys cover.
