Fits 1-1/4" (31.75 mm) Diameter Focus Tubes New 9 mm Enhanced Wide Knight OWL Eyepiece Impressive appearance and quality Advanced 7-element 66° AFOV Design The multi-coated optics on this eyepiece appear green at small angles and magenta (purple) at large angles. Multi-coating is more difficult to produce but results in increased contrast and light transmission. This excellent eyepiece provides a super wide field, medium to high power view. The apparent field of view of this eyepiece is 66°. Used with an 8" SCT, you get 222X and still get 0.3° true field of view! With an 8" f/4 reflector you get 89X and a .74° true field of view. This 15 mm eyepiece is in a new set that includes 20 mm, 15 mm, 9 mm, and 6 mm 1.25 inch eyepieces. All of our eyepieces are threaded for standard filters. They fit Meade, Orion, Celestron, and most other filters for 1-1/4" eyepieces. We are giving a nice bolt type with this eyepiece for a limited time. These usually sell for $4.50 each. This eyepiece has an excellent eye relief of 17 mm and a flat field. Our enhanced super-wide eyepieces are great values at our great price. This is our first product announcement of this enhanced design 9 mm super-wide angle eyepiece. This same exact eyepiece is being sold for $70 by some of the major dealers in astronomical accessories. Essentially all eyepieces, regardless, are made in China or Taiwan. We import these directly from China to keep our price down. Larger dealers mark-up these well know eyepieces more than we. This newly designed eyepiece is new in box and will fit all telescopes with the standard 1-1/4" focus tube including Meade, Orion, and Celeston. It will not fit those telescopes using smaller eyepieces. Contrast in very important for resolving fine planetary detail or to bring out faint deep-sky features. This eyepiece has edge-blackened optics. This additional step in the manufacturing process results in better contrast with your telescope. In any view through a telescope, especially where a bright star or planet is present, their is some light scatter. With standard optics some of this light may be reflected back into the eyepiece and results in decreased contrast. With edge-blackened optics, this reflection is eliminated. Coupled with the advanced multi-coating on this eyepiece, you have a great product. One other fine point might be mentioned. When you tighten down the set screw on an eyepiece, you have a chance of marring the finish of the barrel. As shown in the photo, there is an indented ring on our eyepiece where the set screw fits. This allows you to use less pressure with the set screw on the eyepiece and still keep it in place. There were no compromises and a lot of thought going into the design of this eyepiece.
