NOTE: The ISBN number, which is above the barcode on books, is slightly different than the UPC barcode number. Barcode readers, including CueCat, cannot read ISBN numbers specifically. Simply remove the "978" prefix and change the last digit (check digit) and you will have the ISBN. Many book catalog programs as well as online book sellers such as Amazon, Half.com, eBay, Alibris, AbeBooks, recognize UPC codes from books without the need to enter the ISBN specifically. We have also included a UPC to ISBN converter above. The ISBN for items other than books, like CDs, VHS, and DVD can generally be ignored as the UPC code (barcode number) is normally more commonly used to reference those items.
