Being offered for your consideration, with NO RESERVE, is this pair of Vintage Circa 1950 Gouda South Holland Zuid Holland PZH Bertino Candleholders.

HISTORY
Plateelbakkerij Zuid-Holland, or PZH, was founded in the South Holland town of Gouda in 1898. The typical PZH house mark used on many of the pottery items produced actually represents the Gate of Lazarus, a stone doorway located in the town of Gouda in Zuid Holland.
DESCRIPTION
These PZH candleholders carry the Bertino pattern, a multi colored floral motif set against a mottled background. We did notice a slight difference in the hand painted floral motif surrounding the candle cups.
Attached to the underside of each candleholder are the original circa 1950 oval paper foil labels
Each candleholder carries the following hand painted mark: 3496 BERTINO PZH house backstamp ART POTTERY ROYAL GOUDA HOLLAND. One candleholder also carries the letter A which may represent the artist A. Van Dere Star, a PZH decorator from the late 1940's and early 1950's.
CONDITION
One candleholder is in excellent condition and is free of any signs of damage such as chips, cracks, flea bites, or repairs. The second matching candleholder does have one area of damage, a chip to the rim of the outer candle cup which measures approximately 2 mm. in diameter and can be seen in the photograph below.
These candleholders have come from a smoke free estate collection and are odor free.
