Al Jarreau was born April 12, 1940 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was the son of a vicar. Getting his start in the chuch choir, Jarreau developed his voice and soon moved to L.A. to pursue his dream. Jarreau's became noticed in 1975 with his album We Got By and his vocals were compared to those of Johnny Mathis. Jarreau continued his success well into the '70s with his other released albums.
