***Best Match Test in 2 categories***

May 09, 2008 | 04:15PM a MYT

As you know, eBay rolled out Best Match last year, and it is one of the sort methods that allow buyers to find relevant items faster.

Starting next week, eBay will run a test on the Malaysia site where Best Match will be the default sort order in the following two categories:

  • Consumer Electronics
  • Clothing, Shoes & Accessories

If you prefer to use a different Sort Order (such as "Time: Ending Soonest"), you can change it by using the Sort By drop-down menu at the top of the search results. If you have already set your Sort Order preference using the "Customize Display" link (on the right of the Sort By drop-down menu), you will not be affected by this test.

If you have any comments or feedback about these changes, please send us your suggestions.

Regards,
The eBay Team

***Global AB post - Feedback Transformation***

May 08, 2008 | 10:14AM a MYT

In January 2008, eBay announced some bold changes to how Feedback on our site works. The original announcement can be found here.

Over the last several months, eBay has had many conversations with our users – both buyers and sellers – and we’ve had the opportunity to consider ways we can address some of the top concerns we’ve heard. Based on the input received, the following are some additional modifications we’re making:

  • Content will be added in the “Leave Feedback” flow for buyers who are in a cross-border transaction which reminds them that international transactions usually take longer to complete.
  • The interstitial page that buyers see before leaving negative or neutral Feedback have been improved; the updated page offers a stronger message to buyers about the need to communicate with the seller, to allow enough time for the transaction to complete and to keep Feedback factual.

Specific to eBay.com.my, the following will be implemented starting on May 21, 2008:

  • Sellers may only leave positive feedback for buyers.
  • Negative and neutral Feedback will be removed if a member becomes suspended.
  • Members can leave Feedback up to 60 days after a transaction (down from 90).
  • Feedback will be removed when a buyer fails to respond to the unpaid item process.
  • Members will receive credit for weekly repeat Feedback.
  • Positive Feedback Percentage will be based on the last 12 months of activity (neutral Feedback will be included in the calculation).
  • The PowerSeller Program will use the same calculation method described above to determine eligibility for the PS Program for the Positive Feedback percentage requirement of 98% positive.
  • In addition to expanding the 3-day block to 7 days, a new Buyer Requirement will be introduced allowing sellers to block buyers who have been reported by other sellers for eBay buying policy violations (such as Feedback abuse or email threats).
  • The scope of the existing Buyer Requirement for unpaid items will be expanded so that it supports more comprehensive blocking of buyers who have a history of non-payment.
  • The process that sellers use to report buyers for policy violations will be improved.

These changes represent a huge investment in transforming the way Feedback works, so that it better serves today’s marketplace. Ultimately, the goal is to restore trust and transparency and improve the buying experience, while offering needed checks and balances to ensure our sellers provide excellent service benefits.

All aspects of the new Feedback system and responses from the marketplaces will be studied carefully. eBay will make improvements when appropriate.

Yours sincerely,
The eBay Team

***Digitally Delivered Goods to be banned on eBay.com.my***

April 09, 2008 | 09:31AM a MYT

eBay has decided to ban digitally delivered goods listed on eBay.com.my due to the high risk they pose in undermining eBay’s Feedback System.

Digitally delivered goods are often reproduced at little to no cost to the seller. On eBay, this creates the potential for feedback manipulation (both real and perceived). To preserve the integrity of the Feedback System, all goods that can be digitally downloaded or transferred electronically will be banned on eBay.com.sg, effective from April 16th.

More details of the policy can be found here.

The eBay Team

***Making it easier to recover listings***

March 26, 2008 | 02:56PM a MYT

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new feature that will enable sellers to correct listings that have been removed due to policy violations.

Most listing violations are unintentional, yet because the listings are completely removed from the site, sellers are unable to make the required corrections and relist quickly. Instead, sellers have to recreate the listing. However, a few policies are excluded such as severe banned items (e.g firearms, narcotics, etc…) and VeRO violations for potentially counterfeit items.

Starting today, listings removed for policy violation will be saved in the ‘Unsold’ section of My eBay with a clear indication that the listing was cancelled. Sellers will receive a note in My Messages explaining why the listing was removed and the policy that it violated. Sellers can then edit the listing and relist the item accordingly (or delete it). Of course, sellers should ensure that their revised listing is now in compliance with the law and all eBay policies.

The eBay Team
